Fearghal,
Fair point to an extent. The point is that even when Hillary was the spouse of an elected politician, it happened to be president and she happened to be one of the most active Frist Ladies in history. She wasn't an ornament - she was stuck in for 8 years with the big issues (including the health care project which failed spectacularly). You don't have to have experience in winning elections to have deep politicial experience with leadership and decision making. France's previous prime minister, Dominque de Villepin never won an election in his life. That doesn't mean he's inexperienced - just inexperienced at winning elections!

Someone made the point to me the other day that in Electoral terms Obama is just as experienced as Clinton. Most of her life she has been the spouse of an elected politician, which is fair enough, but how many of us would be happy to let someone rewire our house if they told us ' no I dont have the qualification myself but i've been married to an electrician for years!'

And what had Churchill done before WWII? Leadership isn't just action, its inspiration and allowing those that you lead to think and achieve for themsleves. That is what Obama seems to get and that's why people like him. Which is more than we can say about Hilliary....

[...] The Huffington Post News Editors wrote an interesting post today onHere’s a quick excerptI’m an Obama girl and my man throttled Hillary Clinton, again, Tuesday night. Suddenly, the impossible is real. Suddenly, I’m nervous. Very nervous, actually. I’m nervous because an otherwise normal grownup told me yesterday she’s … Read the rest of this great post here Posted by [...]
