    1) The USA – an abstention at the UN Security Council last night will just make President Elect Obama’s job of convincing the international community that he is serious about using America’s clout to tackle the globe’s most intractable conflict all the more difficult.

    2) Workers – 2200 jobs went in Ireland yesterday.

    3) Sinn Fein – a sudden leadership reshuffle has been announced to shore up the party’s dwindling support in the Republic of Ireland.

    4) Democracy – The decision to change Sinn Fein Vice President came without any apparent involvement of the party membership. Who decides these thing. The people who go out in the wet and the cold to canvass for votes and an exclusive inner circle?

    5)  Savers – with interest rates in the UK at Battle of the Boyne levels many will be wondering of there is any point keeping their hard earned savings in a bank account.
